Our client is a highly regarded civil engineering consultancy specialising in comprehensive design solutions for drainage, highways, and external works across residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.
With a focus on delivering innovative, sustainable, and practical designs, they work on projects involving complex drainage networks, highway infrastructures, SUDS, and earthworks assessments. Due to sustained growth, they are expanding their team and are seeking civil engineers across all levels of experience to join them in shaping the built environment.
About the Role:
Joining our client’s team, you’ll be involved in all stages of civil engineering projects from concept to completion. As part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on various projects, including strategic and detailed drainage designs, highway design for S38/S278, sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS), and other civil infrastructure solutions. This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside industry experts and contribute to diverse, impactful projects.
Key Responsibilities by Level:
* Graduate/Intermediate Engineer
* Assist in designing drainage systems, highways, and external works under guidance from senior engineers.
* Prepare calculations, reports, and technical drawings to support project deliverables.
* Collaborate with project teams on S104/S98 drainage schemes and S38/S278 highway projects.
* Senior Engineer
* Lead on drainage design, highway engineering, SUDS, and external works, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
* Mentor junior engineers, overseeing their technical work and guiding their development.
* Manage project timelines and deliverables, liaising with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
* Principal Engineer
* Oversee large, complex projects, providing technical leadership in drainage, highways, and SUDS design.
* Lead project planning, resource allocation, and quality control.
* Develop and maintain client relationships, assisting in business development activities.
Core Areas of Expertise (All Levels):
* Drainage Design: Strategic and detailed design under S104 and S98, flow control structures, balancing facilities.
* Highway Design: Preliminary and detailed designs under S38 and S278 for safe and compliant roadway systems.
* Pumping Stations & SUDS: Design of foul pumping stations, sustainable urban drainage systems, and flow management.
* External Works Design: Earthworks assessments, including grading, cut/fill, and drainage considerations.
Requirements:
* Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
* Relevant experience in drainage, highways, or civil infrastructure design (varies by level).
* Familiarity with industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage).
* Strong understanding of UK standards and regulatory requirements (S104, S98, S38, S278, SUDS).
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective client and stakeholder interaction.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
